Mardaani 2: Kota residents protest against Rani Mukerji's film

after the release of the trailer of Rani Mukerji's upcoming film Mardaani 2, Kota residents have come out to protest against the film. The protesters say that the film, which is set in Kota, shows their city in a bad light. To register their protest, some of the members of different business and social groups met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who is also an MP from Kota.

The protesters say that the film forms a bad image of Kota, which is a coaching hub for engineering and medical entrance exams, in the minds of people of the country. They are now asking makers to remove the name 'Kota' from their film. Most parts of Mardaani 2 was shot in Kota for which Rani Mukerji was in the city for many days.

After his meeting with the city residents, Om Birla told journalists, "I will definitely discuss the issue with the concerned people. Maligning a city's name through cinema is not acceptable. The incident on which the film is based is also fictional. So for a fictional story taking the name of a city is not right."

According to a report in Dainik Jagran, the protesters say that no incident of this kind has ever happened in Kota. They say that if the city's name is not removed from the film they will take strict action against the makers and will not even hesitate to take them to court.
